About Us

2016 Theme: Implementation of Innovation into Policy and Practice

- February 2016, Bologna, Italy

The European Union Falls Festival brings together leading academics, researchers, health care practitioners, clinicians, industry representatives and key stakeholders from across the globe to celebrate best practice research and innovation in the multidisciplinary study and implementation of falls prevention in older people.

    Getting Here

    Air Travel

    Bologna Marconi Airport is 6km from the city centre. There is an airport bus (BLQ-Aereobus) which runs from Bologna Marconi Airport to the centre of Bologna and takes approximately 25-30mins. This departs from outside the arrivals hall every 15/20 minutes during the day, commencing at 06:00 and running throughout the day and night until 23:45. Visitors should buy tickets from the automatic vending machines located in the airport and at the train station (Aerobus-BLQ departure point). Alternatively tickets can be purchased in advance on line HERE . There are several drop off points in the city centre, the final stop being at the train station. Alternatively, a taxi can be taken also from outside the arrivals hall and will cost approximately €20. For further informaiotn on travel to and from the airport see link here

    Train Travel

    Bolgona Central Station is a central hub and main railway junction in the region. Several high speed trains arrive at Bologna Central Station placing it 30 mins from Florence, one hour from Milan, one and half hours from Venice and two and half hours from Rome.     By Car

    Bologna is the main junction linking motorways for the north and south of Italy (A1 and A14) therefore it is easily accessible from all Italian cities and from broader Europe. See google maps to assist with journey planning here

    Public Transport to Venue from Bologna Central Station

    At the central train station take bus number 35, direction Fiera A. Moro/R.da Baroni and disembark at the bus stop Fiera A. Moro. Head southeast on Viale Aldo Moro and bearing slightly left towards the roundabout. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Viale della Fiera, the destination is on the left.

    Accommodation

    There are a large number of accommodation options to suit all budgets in Bologna. The venue is accessible via public transport (bus) from the train station so this may influence your decision when booking. Please see the Bologna Tourism website where you will find an easy to use search engine for accommodation bookings

2015 Festival
